Most of the historical background of Arunachal Pradesh is shielded by the veils of ignorance. However, the early civilization of the state is anticipated to have originated from tribal groups of Tibet. These tribal groups belonged to Buddhist Culture and thus the prominence of Buddhism finds its cause. Oral histories from the tribal people of Arunachal comply with the prediction that civilization in Arunachal commenced from migrated tribal teams from modern Tibet.

The Ahom chronicles present the early history of Arunachal and refers to the Kingdoms of Monpa and Monyul. These kingdoms were believed to be the prime governing body of Arunachal during 500 BC. Following the end of these two Kingdoms Tibetans and Bhutan made their way into this land and settled them into the northern region.

The land of Arunachal Pradesh has been war-torn by various powers of Tibet, China and India. Presently the state is free of all the conflicts.
