Maner is a notified area of Bihar and is a city of monuments. Earlier, it was located at the amalgamation of Ganges and Son rivers. Known for its strategic location, the city's remain can be seen from a fortress that is situated on the shores of Son.

Maner Sharif : As you go 25 kilometers off from Patna, you will reach an Islamic pilgrimage place called Maner Sharif. There are two tombs here that award it with the status of being an eminent spiritual center that exist in India. While one of these belongs to Yahya Maneri, the other one is of Shah Dualat. The architecture of the building paints a pleasurable scene in the eyes of beholder. There is minute detailing in the intricate designs that have been carved on the walls. As you have a glance over its colossal dome, you will see various inscriptions taken from the holy book Quran. Within the premises, a mosque of seventeenth century, named, Sangi Masjid is present. Built by Humayun, this architectural wonder is built in typical Mughal style though the local influence can also be seen. This religious spot is commonly referred to as 'Phulwari Sharif'.
Maner Sharif was a center of learning and education in ancient times; Panini, the great grammarian used to reside here and got his entire education here. A sweetmeat for which the city id popular throughout India is 'ladoo'. There are several outlets where you can have the taste of this delicious sweet.
