Referred to as India's steel city, Bokaro is the renowned industrial hub of India. By the efforts of the visionary prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, the otherwise backward city transformed into a steel giant of Jharkhand. All this began with the construction of a steel plant with Soviet Union's help. Over a period of about 30 years, Bokaro Steel Company flourished greatly and played a crucial role in stabilizing the economy of the state.

Steel City : A center of attraction for all those who arrived at Jharkhand, the Steel City is one of the prestigious industries that ever existed here. The constriction plan was conceived in the year 1959 and starting materialized in 1965. The presence of a plethora of coalfields nearby is a boon to the plant as the cost involved in transportation of the raw material is minimized considerably. The steel plant remains open for limited hours for the tourists.
Garga Dam : Another attraction of the city is Garga Dam, built on the banks of the river of the same name. To the north of the city, picturesque Parasnath Hills paint a lovely picture. In the vicinity are Satanpur Hills.
City Park : This place of picnicking is beautified by a man-made lake. To add to the beauty, three islands have also been created. A Biological Park named after Jawaharlal Nehru is known to be inhabited by a wide variety of wild animals and varieties of avifauna. The islands are constructed in Japanese style.
Ispat Pustakayalya : There are about 40000 books that are housed inside this huge library.
Among the other attractions at Bokaro that may allure you are Pindrajora, Tenughat, Rajrappa, and Siwanidih.
Temples : There are many temples that can you pay a visit to while visiting this steel city. A temple devoted to Chinnamasta is situated in Rajrappa. Gayatri Temple is another tourist attraction here. You can pay a visit to Buddha Vihar, a place thronged by Buddhist devotees.
