From generations the tribal communities of Jharkhand are singing the folk songs like Akhariya Domkach, Janani Jhumar, Dohari Domkach, Mardana Jhumar, Udasi, Faguwa, Pawas, Pahilsanjha, Adhratiya, Daidhara, Vinsariya, Pratkali and Jhumta. These songs tell the saga of pain, development, struggle for existence and merry making of the tribal inhabitant of the state. The folk songs of the state are mild as well as vibrant depending upon the situation and festival. The dances complimenting the songs are also of different kinds but, primarily the dances are of martial kind. The vitality of the dances makes them a matte of wonder for tourists.
The art and craft of the state concentrates primarily on making wooden objects. The wooden spoon of Jharkhand is a nationally famed object and tourists often pick this item as a souvenir of their visit. Masks of different shapes and forms are also a forte of the craftsmen of Jharkhand. These masks are presently a unique element of interior decoration in the city. Toy making is also a specialty in Jharkhand and toys of abstract feature are very common in Jharkhand market. |
