The natural bounties of Meghalaya are the prime attraction of this state. Umiam Lake is enormous one and tourists can merrily move around there with row boats, cruise boats, water-scooters and speed boats.
Among caves, Krem Liat Prah is the longest and Synrang Pamiang is the deepest cave, bothe located at Jaintia Hills.
Popular waterfalls of Meghlaya are Sweet Falls, Shadthum Falls, Elephant Falls, Weinia falls, Nohkalikai Falls, Bishop Falls and Langshiang falls.
Wildlife parks of Meghalaya are Eco-park, the Botanical Garden, Thangkharang Park and Lady Hydari Park.

Transport :
The state is devoid of any rail head and transport is completely relies through road and air.
There is a small airport in the region of Umroi, which is near Shillong. The small size of the airport confines it to limit its operations within small aircrafts only. The airport operates flights to Tripura, Agartala and Kolkata.
The road transport in the state is developed and within the state road transport is extensive only in Shillong. The connectivity of roads outside the boundaries of Shillong is comparatively poor. Unmetalled roads are still largely seen in Meghalaya. |
