There are many festivals celebrated in the state of Mizoram that are connected to agricultural activities that portrays the vibrancy & the liveliness that lies in the mind of Mizoram. The most important festivals that are celebrated in the Mizoram are Mim Kut, Chapchar Kut,Thalfavang Kut and awl Kut.
Chapchar Kut (Celebrated in March)
This is one of the spring festivals that are celebrated in Mizoram. During this festival, people from all ages, women, and men have dressed in the traditional form, exotic jewelers and head gears and they execute in front of everyone. The festival is also bestowed with few of the songs with the musical instruments like gongs, drums and cymbals.
Mim Kut and Pawl Kut (In the month of November / December)
This is celebrated during the period of harvesting. In this period, there are various types of Dancing, melodious music, and energetic games that are performed during the festival. The musical instruments tingtang (guitar) and the phenglawang (flute) that has the best composition.
Thalfavang Kut (In the month of December).
The whole communities take part in the festival and have great enthusiasm towards the festivals. This festival gives the opportunities to come together and retain the bond of the people from different communities.
Christmas (In the month of December)
The festival of Christmas is celebrated for 3 days that begins from 24th to 26th December. The major religion found here is Christianity and hence Christmas is celebrated in a grand manner. There are delicious feast and huge celebration. |
