The lakhari valley Sanctuary is located in the Ganjam district of Orissa has the one of the largest population of elephants in the country. There are a variety of flora and fauna of tropical forests that are found here and the sanctuary is rich in its floristic composition and medicinal plants. It spread over area of more than 180 sq. km and rich tropical forests.

It has several perennial water sources is primarily home a black bucks and elephants. The tiger leopard, pea fowl and other kinds of fauna found close to the Mahendragiri hill.
