Situation : At a distance of 40 kilometres as of Gangtok in the western District of Sikkim

Prolusion :

The literal meaning of Tsomgo is Source of lake in the language of Bhutia. ‘MGO’ means head and lake means ‘TSO’. This place is located at a distance of 4o kilometres from Gangtok. This holy and serene lake is at an altitude of 12,400 feet in Gangtok on the Nathu La highway. Its very important to know the structure of the lake which has the length of one kilometer; it is fifteen metres deep and is oval shape. Here also you can also have a look at the migratory birds as this place is the home of these birds.

Season for Visiting here :

During the winter season the lake here gets frozen till the mid of May. During May to August you can have a look at wonderful flowers in several kinds, additionally you can also find Rhododendrons here and others too like Irises, yellow and blue Poppies, Primulas etc. this is the best place for Red Panda’s too.
