The culture of Tripura is assimilated in diverse cultural and hence various festivals are been celebrated. Festivals observed here are joyous and thus are celebrated in prosperity. Of all the festivals, Tripura has some amazing and diversified cultural aspects celebrated by both tribal and non-tribal peoples.
The Kharchi Puja is one of the major festivals celebrated in Tripura every year in the month of July for 7 days. In these festivals, they worshipped fourteen Goddess, where huge numbers of pilgrims from both tribal as well as non-tribal assemble. The term “Kharchi” means a corrupt form of earth (Khya). Therefore, this festival also worships earth, who prolong humankind and thus sacrifices all sources to us. It is believed that sacrifice of pigeons and goats are vary of Gods and thus an essential part of the Kharchi Puja. |
