Angling :

 

Angling is the best thing to be enjoyed in the snow fed rivers for people who love water sports like angling. In the beautiful streams of Himalayas, the rainbow and Brown trout are to be found which is acclaimed to be the best water sports in the world. For fishing there are number of sports in the upper part of Rohru in Pabbar valley. Trout hatchery is done in Chirgaon and other similar places are Sandasu, Mandil, Seema, Dhamvari and Tikri which are very close to Rohru

Trout is also allowed in Sangla Valley of Bapsa River of Kinnaur. Luhandi, Tikkar, The Puran Hatchery are some of the best spots nearby to enjoy the best angling.

In the Kullu valley, the upper part of River Beas and the side streams like Parbati, sainji, sarvari, Hurla, Tirthan and the special areas around Patlikuhl, Largi, Aut, Raison, and Katrain are the best places for the sport. These are all near the highway of Mandi- Manali and are the upper stream of the Pandoh reservoir.

Mahseer river camp is best offered by the beautiful and picturesque Kangra Valley, which has many options for the sport. The town of Dehra has a reservoir on top of it known has Pong Dam which has good spots. The River Beas which is along the Nadaun has some good places and from there is Garli Chamba Pattan which also has some good spots. From Nadaun 2 kms away there is Jawalamukhi, Amtar, in Tira Sujanpur, there is Harsi Pattan 30 kms away and just 15 kms away there is Lambagaon from Tira Sujanpur.

The Gobind Sagar Lake which is near Bilaspur also has good options for the sports and has many varieties of fishes.

The best time to enjoy trout fishing is from November to the end of January. Mahseer can be enjoyed best from the June to end of July in normal water.

There would be fishing charges which would be nominal and for trout fishing, license would be required which would be easily taken from the District Fisheries Officer in Kullu or Manali. In Mandi district in Barot and Chirgaon in Shimla, respective Fisheries officer can provide you the license for fishing in Uhl and Pabbar. The license for Mahaseer fishing is provided from the Fisheries officer at Dhameta, Dehra, Haripur, Jwali, Dadasiba, and Barali or in Palampur, the Assistant Fisheries officer can also provide you with the license

Things to Remember :

  • Do not go in Monsoon season.

  • Do not wear loose clothes, Chappals, heels, or leather items, etc for safety.

  • Take proper license before fishing
