The picturesque city of Solan is named after the revered deity Shoolini. An idyllic place for holidayers, this charming spot is warped between the cities of Shimla and Chandigarh. Referred to as "India's mushroom city", the city is popular among the tourists who arrive here for having a glimpse of its celestial charm. Framed by mountain ranges like Matiul and Karol, the topography of the place is alluring enough to draw your attention. The salubrious climate with which the city is blessed makes it an idyllic place for vacationers. Nice catchment areas are present over the rivers Yamuna, Ghaghar, and Satluj.

Natural Splendor : The awe-inspiring beauty along with breathtaking landscapes is what Solan is all about, nature is at its full bloom here. A fantastic spot for honeymooners, Solan attracts tourists by its celestial charms. If you arrive here in winters, you will be able to see a different picture altogether.

Solan Valley :
Pervaded with mesmerizing beauty, the valley carries with it the aura of antiquity. Some of the very old castles are present here and are a treat for history-enthusiasts. A fewer of the edifices are still in their original form and have bore the burnt of time with perseverance.

Kamura Fort : Nestled leisurely at an elevation of about 2600 meters from sea level, the fort of Solan is another lovely attraction. Here, you will see beautiful orchards and enchanting fields that surround the houses present here.

Sholoni Devi Shrine : Known for its lovely fair, the temple is place worth –visiting . The fair is organized in June. Celebrated with fanfare, this fair is known to carry forward rich cultural festivals. Tourists from all over India gather here to have a glimpse of the festivities and pay their obeisance to the goddess.

Horticulture University : This university is stretched over 550 hectares; The then Chief Minister, Y.S.Paramar was responsible for establishing this University of its own kind. There are about 14 different departments that are part of the esteemed educational institute.

Gobind Sagar Lake : This lake is a part of Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh and is a pleasing getaway for vacationers. You can enjoy picnicking here and pursue a number of thrilling sports. The serenity of the place attracts a number of tourists. Another picturesque lake that is present in the vicinity is Karali Lake.

Wildlife Sanctuaries : There are a number of wildlife sanctuaries like Shilli, Chail, and Majathal that let you explore the wildlife to the fullest. If nature attracts you the most, this place is just perfect for you.

Festivities :

There are a number of Festivities that are typical of the state and are celebrated with mirth and joy. Sari Fair, Lossar Fair are the two occasions that pull a large crowd of tourists. Many of these festivities are organized at its various temples. Hanuman temple, Jaloti Shiva temple, and Shrine of Shoolini Mata are frequented by a large number of devotees.

Excursions :

Giri Picnic : You can enjoy picnicking at the historic place called Giri. This nice hub is associated with Pandavas who are believed to have inhabited the area during their exile period. It takes a trek of about two hours to reach this wonderful place. The natural lovers would find the place quiet enjoyable.

Kasauli : Resting peacefully at an elevation of about 2107 meters from sea level, Kasuali is a fantabulous place to relax and enjoy the idyllic beauty of the place. Set amidst picture-perfect gardens, this hilly destination enamors you with its old-world charm.

Parwanoo : Another attraction nearby Solan is Parwanoo. This industrial town is set at the foothills of Shivalik mountain ranges and falls enroute from Kalka to Shimla. The lace abounds in small scale industries.

Chail : Aromatized by the presence of Deodar and willow trees, Chail is a lovely resort that once served the ruler of Patiala. The Satluj Valley overlooking it creates a picture-perfect scenery. The place looks paradisiacal under the twinkling light of stars at night.

Arki : Earlier a capital city of Parmara rulers, the historic place of Arki houses a magnificent palace.

Nalagarh : Known for its princely association, Nalagarh is situated 45 kilometers from Pinjore.
