Best time to Visit : Between May to November

Chitkul :


Bapsa valley has the highest and the largest village known as Chitkul. There are 3 temples of ‘Goddess Mathi’ that are popular. It is said that one of the temples was found 500 years ago. The best time to visit this place is from May to November. There are many other beautiful places nearby where you can visit such as Kamru, Sangla, Rakchham, Morang- Chitkul trek

The Climate in winters here is freezing cold but quite pleasant in summers. There are no monsoon rains here and it comes in a dry zone which makes this place best for trekking. It is advised to be done in the month between May to November to get a great experience.

Other Places of Attraction :

Karchham : Where river Sutlej and Bapsa River starts flowing together there lays the Karchham which has an amazing view.

Kumru : Fields and orchards are found every where with a number of houses in Kumru village. People here take the blessing of an image of Buddha before entering the gate of the village.

Rakchham : From Sangla on the way to Chitkul, about 13 kms away there is the Rakchham that is popular for its picturesque view and panaromic beauty.
 

Valleys :

Sangla Valley :

 

At a distance of 18 kms from Karacham, there is a scenic Sangla Valley. Here you can have a look at the saffron fields rising up. Sangla is constructed at a prickly slope by the houses mounting in tiers.


Transportation :

Air : The nearest airport is Shimla.

Railway :
The nearest railway station is Shimla which has a narrow rail track kalka broad rail tracks.

Road : You need to reach Shimla from there you can easily reach Chitkul with the good connectivity of roads.

Local transport : The service of Bus, Taxi and jeep is available at Peo, Shimla and Rampur.

Accommodation :

There are no shops available in Chitkul, so the basic stay is available only in PWD rest house and tents of Timber. Trekking camps also offers decent meals.
