Dharmashala :
Dharmashala has a beautiful backdrop of Dhaulandar Mountains. The upper and lower section of Dharmashala has a difference of almost thousand meters which is divided into two different sections.
The town is the home for the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan Leader. The town is dominated by the Tibetan community but there is a touch of British flavor and Colonial lifestyle.
Deodar forest and pine tress are found all over Dharmashala. The atmosphere becomes very attractive with the numerous streams along with nearby snowline and cool healthy breeze.
Tourists come here to visit and explore the mountains and it has become the base to the travelers. The bazaar is available which is almost all the time busy with buyers.
The Culture of Tibet is showcased with the colorful Gompas and temples which is also an attraction for visitors.

Dal Lake : This lake is surrounded by deodar trees and is situated at a distance of 11 kms from the main town.
Climate :
Due to mountains surrounded all over, the climate is very cold in winters but is pleasant in summers. Heavy woolen clothes are must during the winter as the temperature sometimes goes below freezing point. The best time to visit this place is in summers when there is lot of sunshine and the view is very clear.
The different and unique carpets are famous all over and local handicrafts are famous and available in the market to buy.
Transportation :
Air : The nearest airport is Gaggla that is just 13 kms away from the town
Railway : The nearest railway station is Pathankot which is 85 kms away from Dharmashala and can be reached within three hours from there. Almost all trains stop at this station.
Road : You have to take a bus from Delhi via Chandigarh, Kiratpur, and Bilaspur and will make you reach here within 8 hours. There are also private buses available from Manali, Shimla and Delhi
