Patnitop, Jammu and Kashmir, India :

Unlike other popular hill stations in India, Patnitop is a less explored location. This place allows panoramic views of tranquil beauty that holds an individual’s attention with its dense forests and lofty trees of pines. As the hill station is covered with thick forests, the location is an attractive picnic spot that allows peaceful walks by enjoying the spectacular views of lofty mountains. The major attraction of Patnitop Hill stations is the unlimited sporting adventure.

Patnitop is situated in Kashmir which is 110 km away from Jammu. With all its charming beauty it is surrounded by lush greenery and dense woods. This is the best place for picturesque, as it is located at high altitude. The Chenab River nearby Patnitop is viewed from the mountain while walking from the high altitude.

Best Recommended Time for Visiting :

Though visiting Patnitop at anytime is best, but it is preferable to take a journey during summer (May-June) and also in autumn (Sep-Oct). If you are looking for some adventurous fun such as Snow Board ride, then December to March will be the best time to go there.

Major Tourist Attractions :

Mata Vaishno Devi Temple : The temple is situated 61 km from north Jammu at a height of about 5,200 ft above sea level. The temple has three deities’ images in the cave such as Mahasaraswati, Mahalakshmi and Mahakali.

The Cobra (Naag) temple : This temple is the pride of Patnitop hill station, as it is 600 yrs old. Even though the size of the Naag Temple is small, it reflects a reverence and faith which is shared through more than millions of Indian folks including other people across the world.

Sudha Mahadev :
It is a significant pilgrimage in the Patnitop hill station and is widely known for the importance of archeological and serene natural sites. The temple is located near the bank of the river called Holy Dewak, which joins further with Ganges. The city also includes other small temples such as Shiva Temple, Ranbureshwar temple, Peer Khoh, Gauri Kund and Parmandal temple.

Temple of Buddha Amarnath : The temple has received a unique identity of Shivji, which is located on the foot hill of Patnitop. The other noticeable thing about Buddha Amarnath is that Shivlinga which is self made with the use of white stone.

Temple of Bahu Fort : The Bahu Fort is located on the rock face and left of Tawi river. This temple is perhaps one of the edifice fort found in Jammu.

Kishtwar :
This is located on the plateau just above Chenab River but below the glacier of Nagin Sheer. The Kishtwar is also popular for the mesmerizing waterfalls occurring during the autumn.

Apart from the mesmersing beauty of Patnitop Hill Station, you can also take a ride with various adventurous sports.

Aero Sport : To talk about aero sports, Paragliding is the major sport that is practiced here. The best time for this sport is in the month of May to June and even September to October. Besides these, Hot ballooning air and Parasailing is also practiced.

Skiing : Skiing is best in the months of winter say from January to February. This sport is practiced at the Madhatop hill which is 5 to 6 km away from Sansar Road, Patnitop. The skiers can avail facilities for accodomation in KUD, Sansar Private Hotels and KJTDC huts.

Trekking : There are varieties of trekking practiced in the region particularly in the summer, when trekking roads are open. The place is good for short treks. The entire tourist range includes Kud-Sansar, Jammu-Katra-Vaishno, Patnitop-Gourikhund, Mantali, Sudmahadev and many more. Besides this you can also hire your trekking equipments such as sleeping bags, carry mats, jackets, rucksacks, windsheaters,and many more from Jammu Kud shops of Tourism.

Golf : If you are a golf lover, then move your steps to Sansar which is located 17 km away from Patnitop. The Sansar is also famous for its paragliding base. This region offers plenty of sightseeing which is breathtaking.
