Sonamarg, Jammu and Kashmir, India :
Sonamarg is also known as “Sonmarg”. Sonamarg is widely identified with its meadow of gold, especially for the adventurous trekking. The frozen lakes and exquisite greenery spread on the mountains are breathtaking. The mystical water from the Sindh valley is just awesome that turn your eyes in eternal riches. As it is situated on a high altitude, the area is cold during summers also. The Tajiwas glaciers in Sonamarg are just supersite for sledge riding on the snow during midsummer. The river Sindh rambles around the valley in between the bounds of mahaseer and trout.
The major trek is observed in the mountain that passes through the lakes Gangabal, Vishansar, Gadsar, Kishansar and Satsar. This is the place where you can move your footsteps towards Ladakh, one of the significant paths in the range of the Great Himalayas through Srinagar- Leh. Gulmarg is known for two major folds, firstly it is a major trekking area that passes through mountain lakes and secondly its last halt is from Kashmir.
Meadow Of Gold :
As Sonamarg is the last and major point at a height of 2, 740m in Kashmir Valley that allows passing road towards Ladakh. While passing towards Ladakh, the landscape abruptly catches the attention with its exquisite natural beauty. The place is called as the Meadow of Gold, as there is richness of flowers shrouded on the land.

Krishnasar Lake and Bisansar Lake :
You will enjoy every corner in Sonamarg as it is spread with lakes everywhere. The path starts from Sonamarg to Bisansar Lake through Nichinai Pass. The Nichinai Pass while crossing the river stands with an altitude of about 4,084m. The exquisite beauty is just breathtaking. Beside the Krishnasagar Lake, there is the Truot fishing at an altitude of about 3, 801m.
Nilagrad :
This is the meeting point of the Baltic colony with the river Indus at the mountains, 6 km from Sonamarg called as Nilagrad. The reddish color of the water is eye catchy. The local folks claims that this river has got curative power of many diseases. Besides this inhabitants of the Baltic colony visit this place every Sunday for bathing in the river.
Recommended time to Visit :
Visiting Sonamarg in the winter which is November to February and in summer from May to September is preferable.
