Jammu and Kashmir is a place where people from all religions come to worship the gods as Jammu and Kashmir is known as Land of Gods and this place is said to be Heaven on the Earth. Pilgrims of Jammu & Kashmir is visited by people from all over the world. Mostly all the pilgrims of J & K are located in or around the Himalayas with the breathtaking and picturesque view.

People not only come here to enjoy the beautiful view of the snow capped mountains, cold climate but also to get the blessings of their god by worshipping them. The wonder creations of so many temples and mosques are just amazing to watch. People there are religious and they believe that when anyone comes to Jammu and Kashmir should visit Hari Prabat Pilgrim center where a temple, Gurudwara and a mosque are side by side which gives a great example of unity and brotherhood.

Jammu & Kashmir is located on the Northern part of India which has three main regions that includes Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. The main languages which people speak is Hindi, Kashmiri, Dogri and Ladakhi. The best time to visit this place is from October to February.

Heaven on Earth - Pilgrimage of Jammu & Kashmir :

Alchi :

Alchi is located 70 kms away from Leh in Ladakh Region of Jammu & Kashmir. Alchi is an important and good place where any one can visit without permission. This has been a perfect place to relax while going or coming from Ladakh capital with its breathtaking scenery and the Indus River with its Milky blue water.

The other attraction here is the two old building known as The Du-Khang and The Sumtek.

Amarnath :

Amarnath is located 145 kms from Srinagar in Kashmir Region of Jammu & Kashmir. This is one of the highest temple located at an altitude of around 4,175 m that goes upto 13,700 ft. Amarnath yatra is famous among people from all religion and everyone comes to visit and worship this Goddess and take blessings. The best time to visit this temple or yatra is from July to August.

The pilgrimage or yatra to the Amarnath cave is one of the holiest places which are natural and that is continued every year for more than hundred years. It is in the form ice and is known as Linga of Ice. This comes in the cave which is shallow and around 130 ft high.

Padum Padum :

It is located close to Zanskar in Ladakh Region of Jammu & Kashmir. It is situated at an altitude of around 3, 505 m. It is also popularly known as Padam. The kingdom of Zanskar in earlier times had Padam as a capital. Now it is used as the administrative headquarters for the Ladakh region

The population of Padum is around 1,500 with half of the population of Muslims which is there since 17th century. Recently Padum had been a popular destination for trekking which has been a major base for trekking and it also a famous tourist destination.

Stongdey Monastery :

Stongdey Monastery is located 18 kms away from Padum in Ladakh Region of Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated at an altitude of around 3,500 m. The complex is really beautiful and has a  number of temples. In Zanskar, Stongdey is the second largest monastic settlements. It lies on the road which leads to Zangla from the north of Padum.

Vaishno Devi :

Vaishno Devi is located 61 kms away from the north of Jammu region in Jammu & Kashmir. It is situated at an height of around 5,200 feet above sea level. This is considered as the holiest place and is worshiped by everyone.

People who visited this temple say that the call of Devi cannot be ignored and it is the place where helpless gets help from Devi and nobody has returned empty handed. People come here by singing the praises of Vaishno Devi. The cave had three images of the deities that include Mahasaraswati, Mahakali, and Mahalakshmi.

This place can be visited any time in the year but in winter it a bit difficult as one has to go through small routes which are many times blocked due to the snow-fall.

Zangla :


Zangla is 35 kms away from Padum in the Region of Zanskar of Ladak in Jammu & Kashmir. It is situated at an altitude of around 3,370 m. Titular kings ruled over Zangla till he died in1989. The hill is occupied by a small chapel which has a desertic valley below and the Old castle is about to fall. The best time to visit this place is from June to November.

Zanskar :

Zanskar is 235 kms away Kargil in the Ladak Region in Jammu & Kashmir. The other attractions there are Panikhar, Karsha, Panzela Pass and Trekking. The best time to visit this place is from July to October.

The top there is the Panzela which is at the height of around 4,401 m. The beautiful sight has two small lakes with the amazing tableland and snow covering the entire area.
