Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve is located in Srinagar towards the Southwest just 48 kms away. It falls in the Kashmir Region of Jammu & Kashmir. The National Park is widely spread with an area of around 180 sq kms. The people are attracted here mostly by the Musk Deer. The best time one can view these Mammal is from the month of September to March. There are many endangered and rare species found here that includes the varied and rich avifauna and Musk Deer.
Plantation :
The Reserve has a good growth of vegetation with the forest surrounded by conifers which covers around 90%. The important species are Pinus Griffithii, Cedrus Deodara, Aesculus Indica and Abies Pindrow, etc. The major shrubs grown here are Sorbaria Tomentosa, Indigofera Heterantha, etc. The Rumex Patientia and other cover the ground that is very Dicotyledonous and rich herbs.
Animals :
The Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve is gifted with great and rare species of animals by nature and some of them includes the Hangul, Serow, Musk deer, Brown Bear, Black Bear, Leopard and Red Fox, etc
Birds :
There are multiple species of birds in the Biosphere Reserve which are gifted by nature. Some of them are resident and some are migratory birds. Some of them include the Griffon Vulture, snow cock, Monal, Blue Rock Pigeon, Koklas, Kashmir Roller, Jungle Crow and European Hoopoe, etc.

There are many options for accommodation. One can easily get a hotel or lodge in Srinagar which is one of the famous places in Jammu & Kashmir where people from all over the world come. The hotels with basic facilities and some hotels with good and luxurious facilities are also available. House boats are also a good option to stay for people where they can enjoy a lot.
