Kishtwar National Park is a high altitude park which is located in Jammu Region of Jammu & Kashmir. The National Park is widely spread with an area of around 400 sq kms. The people are attracted towards the park because of the 15 different, rare and dangerous species found here that includes the Musk deer, Himalayan Black and Brown Bear, Markhor, Langur, Hangul and Leopard. The best time to view these mammals is from the month of September to March
Avifauna :
There are around 50 spices of birds here in this park and among them the main species are the Himalayan Jungle Crow, Bearded Vulture, Griffon Vulture, Golden Oriole, White Cheeked Bulbul, Paradise Flycatcher and Indian Mynah.
Flora :
The altitude and climate of the sanctuary is the reason because of which the vegetation of different type occurs here.Some of the most important species are Cedrus Deodara, Pinus Wall chiana, Pinus Gerardiana, Juglans Regia, etc.The shrubs which cover the most of the area are Desmodium Tilliaefolium and Parrotiopsis Jacquemontiana. The hubs which grow here major are Artemisia Vulgaris, Dipsacus Mitis, etc
