Northern part of Inidia.

Four dialects are noted in Punjab namely Majhi, Pothoari, Dogri and Kangri.

Area :

The total area of the state is 50362 sq km.

Terrain :

The state is covered with alluvial plains and fertile plains of river banks are highly notable. The semi-arid region of Thar Desert is noticed at the southwestern side of Punjab. The hilly terrains of Siwalik Hills occupy the north eastern part.

Climate :

Extreme climate is observed in Punjab. In summer temperature rises to maximum of 47 degree Celsius and during winters mercury can drop to -4 degree Celsius.

Hindi.

Important Tourist destination :
Excavated site of Indus valley civilization; Golden temple at Amritsar; architectural monuments at the cities of Patiala, Chandigarh and Kapurthala; Ancient fort of Bethinda and the list goes on.

October to March.

Transport :

The state has 6 airports in total at different important cities. Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar is the largest in the state and in North India this airport is considered to be the second busiest one after Delhi Airport. The domestic airports at Ludhiana, Mohali, patiala and Pathankot are quite busy too and have connectivity within all of Punjab.

The railway lines in Punjab are well connected and the state has an extensive network of railways. The railway station of Amritsar is the largest on in Punjab and tourists can access all the major cities easily from this station.

There are 11 national highways that crisscross the state and the historical Grant trunk road passes from the state as well. The road connectivity of Punjab is excellent and one can even reach the extreme remote areas and villages by road conveniently.
