Significance : World's Oldest Running Vintage Steam Engine

Imagine how will you feel like when you travel in a train, whose engine is the oldest working one in this globe? The Fairy Queen train takes you around some of the culturally rich regions of India while you pamper yourself inside the train with its comfortable seats and personalized services.

Few Words about the Train :

The Fairy Queen train was manufactured by a British firm. Later Eastern Indian railways acquired the Fairy Queen in the year 1855. This pristine luxury train has bagged National Tourism Award and has also made its way in The Guinness Book of World records. This luxury locomotive was put on display at the National Rail Museum for a long period of time after it was acquired by Indian Railways. In the year 1997, this train was again brought into regular operation. In the year 1997, the train was awarded the National Tourism award for its creative and unique tourism projects.

Feature of this Luxury Train :

The size of this luxury train is not too large as its engine is attached to a single air conditioned carriage. The carriage has a maximum capacity of 60 seats and is fitted with a large window at its front for viewing the engine. There is a lounge inside this luxury train for scenic observation. Passengers can enjoy watching the charming pastoral views as the train move on its tracks. There is an onboard pantry that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks at regular intervals to the passengers.

Route of the Train :

This luxury locomotive runs from Delhi to Alwar and back to Delhi. The whole train tour takes 1 night and 2 days. The train halts briefly at stations between Delhi and Alwar to refill water for its steam engine. The passengers are taken for a wildlife excursion at the Sariska national Park. Here all the passengers stay at the Tiger Den economy hotel, which is a project by Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation. At Tiger Den, passengers can take pleasure in watching a cultural program and can enjoy a jeep safari into the wildlife reserve.

Timetable for Fairy Queen :

This train is not scheduled to run daily. Hence, you need to know the timings of this luxury train if you wan tot avail a dream journey. Every year this train operates from October till March. It departs on second and fourth Saturdays in a month. The train leaves Delhi cantonment at 9 in the morning and arrives at Alwar at 3 in the afternoon. On the return journey it leaves Alwar at 1 in the afternoon and reached Delhi by 6.45 pm.
