History of Ajmer Dargah :

 

Ajmer renowned as one of the most holy cities and a place of religious and cultural harmony all over the world. Ajmer sharif is the prime destinations of people who have believe in faith, whether they are Hindus, who are the worshipper of Lord Brahma or be they Muslims, they come to visit dargah. Ajmer sharif was founded in the seventh century CE by Dushyant Chauhan. He has established the Chauhan dynasty which continued to rule the country while repeated waves of Turkish invasion swept across India.

 

Muhammad of Ghor, the founder of Delhi Sultanate had conquered the Ajmer in 1193. Because the payment of a heavy tribute to the conquerors; Ajmer's internal government was handed over to the Chauhan rulers. Ajmer then remained feudatory to Delhi until 1365, when it was captured by the ruler of Mewar. In 1509 Between the Maharajas of Mewar and Marwar was completely conquered by the Marwar ruler in 1532. Then in 1559 the Ajmer was conquered by the Mughal emperor. Till 1770, it was continued to be in the hands of the Mughals, until it ceded to the Marathas. Form that time up to 1818 Ajmer was the scene of an ongoing struggle, being seized t different times by the Mewar and the Marwar maharajas, from whom it was often retaken by the Marathas. After the independence in 1947, Ajmer remained its position as a centrally administrated state under a chief Commissioner for some time.

 

Architectural creations :

Many art lover and devotees visit Ajmer sharif to see dynamic architecture. There are many attractive buildings, Daalaans, tombs, and country yard in the dargah which present the Mughal. The two gates are beautifully designed. In Mughal period, Akbar always came to Ajmer dargah to seek blessings and made pilgrimage to the dargah from Agra. In first look, people always notice the tomb of the saint, which has a marble dome and is surrounded by a silver platform.

 

Geographical Location :

Ajmer is situated in 26 27, N. lat. and 74 44, E. long, on the lower slopes of Taragarh hill, in the Aravalli range. North side of city is a large artificial lake, which is called as Anasagar, adorned with a marble structure called Baradari. It is an ancient crowded city with modern developments.

Chillah Sharief of Hazrat Ghous-UI-Azam :

This is a place of meditation of Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani; who is mostly known as Ghous-UI-Azam is located a top a hill overlooking the shrine of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti. Ghous-UI-Azam was a contemporary of Hazrat Usman Harooni and Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti.


Nasiyan (Red) Temple :

This is a temple of Digambar Jains. Nasiyan temple is also known as the Red temple. The double story hall of the temple exhibits a number of gold plated wooden figures.


Taragarh fort :

It is built in the 7th century Ajaipal Chauhan, this fort is like a bird's eye view of the city. Taragarh fort is also known as 'Star Fort'; it is located on a hill and to reach there, one has to take winding bridle path.

 

Ana Sagar Lake :

It is an artificial lake. It got a name after Anaji Chuhan (grandfather of Prithvi Raj Chauhan). The location of this lake is north of Ajmer.

 

Adhai-din ka Jhonpra :

It is an old mosque and the architecture of this mosque is based on the epitome of Indo - Islamic architecture. About the mosque there is believed that it was built in two and half a days. This led to the name of the mosque. It is believed that the mosque as Adhai-Din Ka Jhonpra.

 

Near By Places :

Mayo College :

It was established by Lord Mayo in 1875. Architecture of Mayo buildings arouses the grandeur of erstwhile princely Rajasthan.

 

Foy Sagar Lake :

This lake is artificial and it was constructed in the year 1892. It is very eye catching. It is located in the suburb of the city.

 

Pushkar :

It is almost 23 kilometers away from the Ajmer. Pushkar state is popular for the lake and it is also famous for camel fair.
