Aligarh or Kol, as it is generally called, is a crucial city of Uttar Pradesh. Considered vas an important center for education and learning, this city attracts the tourists from all over India. Aligarh Fort : Considered as among the inviolable forts of India, the fort was built during the rule of Lodhi dynasty. It was later rebuilt by Sabit Khan, the then governor under Farrukh Siyar. It was the same place where battalions under Madahvrao Scindia got organized. The mutiny of 1857 saw its further consolidation. If you are a history enthusiast, then don’t forget to visit this place.

Aligarh Muslim University : This famous residential University came into being in 1875 by the efforts of Syed Ahmed Khan. During struggle for Independence, a Muslim movement came into existence from here. The intellectual elite belonging to AMU played a vital role creation of separate Pakistan state. Today this university offers more than 200 courses related to different fields. The admission is open to everyone.

Dor Fortress : It is an ancient fort of 16th century, the place is now in ruins and the premises are now taken over by a mosque. Several temples of Hinduism and Buddhism are also present in the vicinity.

Mangalayathan :
This Jain pilgrimage center of Aligarh is one of the unique places to be a visited by a tourist. Stretched over a large expanse of 80000 square yards, the center is an important player in the field of social services, religion and educational related activities.

Etawah : Visit this place to have a glimpse of a fort that is almost ruined now. Other site worth visiting is Jami Masjid; you can also have a refreshing experience of bathing at the river ghats.

Sankasya : This Buddhist Stupa is believed to be place where Lord Buddha descended from paradise after giving sermons to his mother.

Rampur : This historical place houses a State Library which is a huge aggregation of manuscripts from ancient period. You will also get to see certain miniature art works.

Kannauj : the magnificent city of Kannauj was the capital of Harshvardhan. It is the same place where Humayun was defeated by Sher Shah.
