Mir Alam is a pocket sized lake. The serene surroundings of this lake will captivate you by its supernal beauty. This lake is located at a distance of 16kms from the capital city of Hyderabad. The closest landmark to this lake is Nehru Zoological Park. Mir Alam Tank is one of the most famous tourist spot. Other than, the picturesque settings of the lake, the construction of this tank attracts hoards of visitors. The shape of this dam is semi circular and is the smallest masonry dams.

This tank was built by Mir Alam during the 19th century. Mir Alam was the prime minister of this place, thus he had laid the foundation for this dam in the year 1820.This tank was completed within 2years.According to the documents of the historians this tank was completed on 8th June 1806.

This is an important tank from the point of engineering as it contains a 1mile long (bund) with twenty-one circular arches. The overall architecture of the tank signifies a rich and lavish look to the huge structure.

In the initial days, Mir Alam Tank supplied drinking water to the citizens of Hyderabad before the modern era storage facilities came into light. The water supplied was very pure and as a result, travelers and other people used to take this water in their container before commencing for any long journey.

Nowadays Andhra Pradesh Tourism has started boating on this ravishing lake. To enter this lake you will have to pass the zoo. The pathway through this zoo is really enduring.

Rail : As Hyderabad is the capital city, it has its own terminus, and is well connected with all the important cities.
