Nagari town is located on the riverbank of Kusasthali; Chittoor (Andhra Pradesh).One of the popular picnic spots of Andhra Pradesh lies in the northern side of the Nagari Town is called as the Nagari Hills. The towering and the mellowest point of the hill are known as the Nagari Nose as it looks like a human nose. You can spot this point from the lighthouse of Chennai and 100m away from this place. The cliff of the Nagari Hill is located seven km to the north and at an altitude of 855m above the sea level. This place is also known as Nagari Murkonda.
Nagari Nose was a lighthouse in the medieval period. This place used to guide the navigators in the Bay of Bengal as the nose served as an important landmark. There is a bonfire on the crest of the nose that used to lead the huge ships during that time. The Kings of Karvetinagaram contributed 0.75 acre of land to the Jangam Family from the village of Kemparapalem that still lies at the foothills. On each Full Moon day, a huge earthen oil lamp is lit by the descendants of the Jangam Family who still cherishes the land granted to them till date. This cliff is also popular amongst the trekkers and the mountaineers.
