Gunupudi Someshwara Temple is placed in Bhimavaram in the West Godavari of Andhra Pradesh. The Somesvara and Bhimesvara temples of Andhra Pradesh are of the most importance. In Bhimesvara, there is a Shiva Lingam which is said to be self-manifested (Svayambhu).
The ‘Pali’ language is inscribed on one of the pillars of the mantappam. In Gunupudi, the Shiva Lingam in Somesvara temple is of 5ft and is also said to be self manifested (Syayambhu). The Shivratri is an annual festival which is celebrated here and to enjoy this festival more than 50,000 people come from distance place. This festival is celebrated with lot of joy.
On this day people offers sweets, milk and flowers on the Shiva lingam. The food is also distributed on some place to everyone. People love to come here as they feel blessed after coming here.
