Kinnersani Wildlife Sanctuary lies on the right side of the River Godavari also a part of the Dandakaranya Forests. This wildlife sanctuary is located at a distance of 12km from Paloncha and is placed at an area of 635.4sqkm.This forest got its name from the Kinnerasani River that flows from this forest and drains in to the River Godavari.
Prime Attraction :
This sanctuary is Dry deciduous mixed type forest, which has trees like terminals, teak and bamboo. Other species like Maddi, Tendu, Sommi Thandra, Mango, Yegissa, Amla, Yepi, and Bandaru.The major attraction inside the park includes Kinnerasani Dam, Reservoir, Jaladrushyam Guest House and the Deer park. There are many perennial streams called as Togus that flows through this magnificent sanctuary.
Fauna :
Animals like Sambhar, Gaurs (Indian Boar), Sloth Bear, Tigers, Black Bucks, Hyena, Chousinghas, Wild Dogs, Panthers, Cheetals, Wild Boars, and Jackals and many birds like Jungle Fowl, Doves, Spoonbills, Partrigde, Nuktas, Ducks, Teals and Open bill storks(comes near the Kinnersani Lake to graze and nest).Reptiles like Vipers, Cobra, Python and Kraits are also found.
You can also avail stay at the holiday home, which is made up of glass. Do visit the Eco Park located near the dam, and an Environmental Education Center.
