Jamalabad is a very well known fort which was constructed by Tipu Sultan who is popularly known as Tiger from Mysore during his period in 1794. They renamed the fort after his mother Jamalabee. The village is situated at the foot of the hill rock that creates a beautiful range of Kudremukh Hills that lies near Belthangadi. The fort was originally known by the name of “Narasimha Hangadi”. The village is located at the hilltop on the rock developing the wide scope for business for the long time from Kudremukh.
British had captured this fort during 1799 AD. Today, there are narrow lanes formed by the ruins of the rock and is available only in the month of Feb and May.
Gangamoola is easily accessible that is located in the Chikmagalur district which is enclaved with thick forests. The most important three rivers have their origin at this place namely Netravati, Bhandra and Tunga. |
