The climate of the state is not monotonous one and four distinct seasons are notable in Karnataka. The winter in Karnataka starts from January till February. It is followed by summer, which runs between the months of March and May.  Monsoon season starts from June and continues till September and post-monsoon season commences from October and remains till December. The coastal zone of Karnataka receives the heaviest rainfall.

The air transport of the state is a fast expanding sector. The state has airports at the cities of Bangalore, Hubli, Mangalore, Belgaum, Bellary, Hampi and Mysore. The international flights operate from the airports of Bangalore and Mangalore.

The network of railway in Karnataka constitutes a total length of 3089 kms. Coastal part of Karnataka is covered by Konkan railway network, while the other parts of the state are connected through Southern and Western Indian railway network.

The road transport in Karnataka is substantially served by the national highways and state highways. And the state transport boastfully carries 2.2 million passengers on regular basis.
