Located near the serene and peaceful University of Mysore. Kukkarahalli Lake, in 1864 AD was constructed by Dewan Poornaiah. This lake is spread over an area of 120 acres including more than 180 bird species with most of the aquatic kind.

Kukkarahalli Lake hosts several species of migrating birds which are almost 30 in number which migrate from the cold environment of Siberia. This lake is considered to be an inspiration to several writers and poets. To bring to your notice there was a poet named Dr. K.V. Puttappa who was influenced by the beauty of this lake.You can have a look at the splendid mention of their works. This lake is used to endow boat training to the naval wing of the National Cadet Crops. The Karnataka State Tourism Department arranges boating facilities to the tourist visiting here, to enjoy a wonderful vacation in the scenic atmosphere.
