Situated at a distance of 7 kilometres from Mysore, the oldest and biggest lake of Mysore is Lingambudhi Lake. In remembrance of his beloved wife this lake was constructed in 1828 AD by Krishnaraja Wodeyar III, his wife’s name was Lingajammanni. The lake covers an area of 260 acres; this lake is under the control of the forest department.
Lingambudhi Lake is very popular for their wide varieties of different species of birds that visit this place during different seasons. Here you can have a look at the different types of species of birds like Indian darter, garganey, spot-billed pelican, pin tailed duck and shoveller. |
