Bandipur National Park is positioned in the District of Chamarajanagar in the Southern side of India. Entitled as one of the former wildlife havens in India founded in the year (1931) and a secluded preserve for the endangered tigers. This safe haven was constructed on account of (Project Tiger) for the protection of the endangered (tigers) in their normal environment. The national park sways over a region of (874 sq km) - (337 sq mi).


This National Park was founded by the (Raja of Mysore) in 1931 with a region of just (90 sq kms). Afterwards, it was prolonged to (800 sq kms) and also was forenamed as (Venugopala Wildlife Park) then. The area (Venugopala) forenamed subsequent to the Divinity of the confined place of pilgrimage positioned at a nearby place known as (Gopalswamy Betta). The national park was again named in 1973 when the administration of India ruled over the possessions, under the (Project Tiger) instituting it as (Tiger preserve).


It is situated very near to a computer-generated city of Bangalore. This makes the Bandipur National Park, one of the frequently stopover places. Additionally from the natural world, Bandipur haven is an abode to many rare assortments of fauna and flora. This place is also known for aromatic woods and Sandalwood trees. This National Park has three natural streams, Nagur River, Kabini River and Moyar River.


Bandipur is a big holiday spot with many thrilling stuff to do. You can try out Trekking, Bird Watching, Fishing and Boating on your stopover to the National Park of Bandipur. The stunning position makes this a perfect place for a grand holiday flattered with lovely weather conditions.


Bandipur Wildlife haven is famous as (“connecting link”) since it links the Wildlife Sanctuary of Mudumalai in (Tamil Nadu) and Wildlife Sanctuary of Wayanad in (Kerala), and thus figuring an extended stretch of nature. It is presently under the deliberation for choice as a (World Heritage Site) by UNESCO World Heritage group.


This place can be visited at any point of time. Though, it is the most excellent place for photographers and animal lovers to take a trip during the summertime that is in the month of (March - May).
