Agastyarkoodam Peak, Kerala, India :
Agastyarkoodam Peak is a magnificent peak located in the Western Ghats which has an elevation of about 1868 m above sea level and is in the form of a shape of a cone. It is situated in Thiruvananthapuram that is 61 kms away. If one wishes to trek here then they have go from Bonacaud which is 61 kms of trekking and from Neyyar Dam it is 32 kms of trekking.
This place has a major attraction for its unusual flower ‘Neelakurinji’ which blooms once in twelve years. The best time one can enjoy trekking at this place is from December to April.
This place is a heave of Medicinal and herbal plants with the slopes that gives us a spectacular view that converts into bright glades of a flower ‘Neelakurinji’ that comes only once in twelve years.
The local People there say that women are not allowed up the peak. It is believed that the peak was the adobe of sage Agasthaya who was a confirmed Bachelor. So the aborigines do not like women’s being on the peak.
Best time for Trekking :
The month from December to April is recommended as the perfect time for trekking. If one wishes to trek here then there is a pass which has to be taken from the Forest Department, Wildlife Warden -Thiruvananthapuram.
Tips before Trip :

The trekkers or tourists are required to go in group so they can help the other members. Take some food along with you.

People who are new to trekking should go along the groups who have experience in trekking.

Tourists should carry woolen clothes, good pair of shoes and a stick along with them.

Do not throw the left over food any where on the route.

Also do not forget to carry a long rope along with you which can help you anywhere if needed.
