Kerala is popular all around the world as ‘Gods Own Country’ and is a striking land surrounded by salubrious hills that offer the perfect place for a holiday. There are many things in Kerela to be explored where one can enjoy the spirit of adventure and also can relax their body and soul.
 
The hills stations in Kerala is located on the Blue Mountains and the heights of Western Ghats. The ambience of the hill station is amazing where one can also enjoy the plantation of spices and tea with the wilderness of the dense forest. The hill station of Kerala will take you altogether to a different world with chill springs and alluring rivulets. There are many peaks to be explored which are in a beautiful state that have a perfect atmosphere for the cultivation of cinnamon, cardamom, tea, rubber, pepper and coffee.

There are many hill stations in Kerela from which some of them are Munnar, Nelliyampathy, Ponmudi, Devikulam and Ranipuram which are th tourists dream heaven. Come, enjoy and relax in the pleasant shelter and in the panoramic hills of Kerala.

There are many people who come here from far and distance places to enjoy in Kerala. The famous places and things in Kerala are the Backwaters, Hill stations, Beaches, Auryvedic treatments, food, and many other things. Tourists from many other countries come here for their holidays just to relax and enjoy. The Tourists can come to Kerala by Road, Air or by Rail. The main stations or the major accessible points in Kerala are Trivandrum and Kochi. The best time people can come here to visit and enjoy this place is from August to March.

Hill Stations of Kerala :

Attappady is situated in Palakkad district on the northeastern side and is 38 kms away from Mannarkkad. It is widely spread over the area of 827 sq kms that has the biggest ethnic settlement. The main feature of this place is the colossal Shivlinga. The main ethnic group here is Irolas and Mudugars.

Devikulam is located just 16 kms away from Munnar where one can enjoy the natural gorgeousness in her immaculate splendor. This hill station is one of the nature’s paradises where the cool and crisp mountain air filled heavily with the fragrance of rare herbs and wild flowers. The Chinnar Wild Life Sanctuary is one of the places where many tourists are attracted towards it. The Devikulam is situated at an elevation of 1800 m above sea level. The best time tourists can go to this place is from September to May where they can enjoy the clear sky with the picturesque beauty of the surroundings.

Dhoni is located 15 kms away from Palakkad which is popular for the farm house with cattle of Swiss range. This place is also famous among and enjoyed by the trekkers. The language spoken and understood here is English, Hindi and Malayalam.

Grampi is situated 5 kms away from Peermade in Kerala. It is also popularly known as Parunthupara. Grampi is surrounded all over by tea and coffee and Cardamom plantations. The most important part of Grampi is the view of the surrounding that is breathtaking from the peak.

Ilaveezhpoonchira is situated in Kottayam which is 55 kms away and 20 kms away from Thodapuza in Kerala. Ilaveezhpoonchira means a valley where leaves do not fall. It is situated at an altitude of around 3200 m above sea level. The language understood and spoken here is English, Hindi and Malayalam. It is one of the famous hill stations among the children as many people from far and distant places come for their picnic.

Lakkidi is located in Wayanad in Kerala which is one of the beautiful and pleasant hill stations of Kerala. It is at an altitude of 700 m above sea level. This is famous among people and many tourists come at this place as Killikkurissimangalam is the birth place of Kunjan Nambiar. The important feature of this hill station is it records the second highest rainfall in the world. This place is loved very much by nature lovers, photographers and trekkers as they feel very close, just like in the arms of the nature.

Mattupetti is located in Munnar just 13 kms away, in Kerala which is at an elevation of 1700 m above sea level. It is popular for Indo-Swiss live stock project, dairy farm. There are over more than 100 special varities of high yielding cattle found here. The main language spoken here is Malayalam and other languages like Hindi and English is  spoken and understood by many people. Tourists are only allowed in three cattle sheds from eleven at the farm. Apart from this place there is Mattupetti Dam and Lake which is one of the famous picnic spots where most of the people come with the families on weekends to enjoy and relax.

Munnar is located in the Idukki district of Kerala which is at the confluence of three mountain streams they are Kundala, Nallathanni and Mudrapuzha. This hill station is at an elevation of 1600 m above sea level which was one of the favorite and summer resorts of British Government. This place is very popular among the tourists for its tea plantations, winding lanes, picture book towns and holiday facilities. There is a good collection of flora and fauna in the forest which is surrounded by lush green grass from which the exotic is Neelakurinji. The best time to visit this place is from September to May where this place can be enjoyed at its best. The main language used and understood is Malayalam, English, Hindi and Tamil.

Nelliyampathy is located in Palakkad which is 75 kms away in Kerala. This place has an altitude of around 1572 m above sea level. The main attraction of the tourists here is Malampuza. The main language spoken here is Malayalam and other languages like Hindi and English. People who visit this place enjoy the cool climate, nestling atop the Western Ghats which have a magnificent and charming view of delightful valleys and foggy mountains which are enclosed by plantation of tea, cardamom, coffee and orange.

Pakshipathalam is situated in Wayanad district in Kerala with an altitude of around 1740 m above sea level. It is around 7 kms away from Thiruneli Temple towards north eastern side which is in Brahma Giri Hills. This hill station is famous among trekkers which is enjoyed and loved by them. This is also known as trekker’s paradise. The main language spoken here is Malayalam and other languages like Hindi and English. Pakshipathalam is one of the spots which have been a challenge for the tourists which is loved and enjoyed. This place can only be reached by Trekking.

Peerumedu is located to the east of Kottayam which is around 85 kms away. It is situated at an altitude of 914 m above sea level. It is on the road to the Thekkady. This is one of the famous places which are known for plantation. This place has got its name from Perr Mohammad who was a Sufi Saint and was a close associate to the Travancore family. The Thrissanku and Kuttikanan hill attracts major tourists. . The main language spoken here is Malayalam and other languages like Hindi and English.

Peruvannamuzhi is situated in Kozhikode which is 60 kms away in Kerala. The other attractions here are the Crocodile farm and Bird sanctuary which is popular among many tourists and attracts many people. This is also famous among the people as a picnic spot where they come here to enjoy with family and friends. Many people come here on weekend’s just to enjoy the beautiful surrounding and splendid atmosphere.
       
Ponmudi is around 61 kms away from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala which is one of the best hill stations of Kerala. It is based at an altitude of around 1066 m above sea level which has some beautiful and picturesque spots. The other attraction which can be seen by the tourists is Kovalam. The language spoken and understood here is English, Hindi and Malayalam. People who come here mostly are people who love trekking and they can easily reach this place and is near Thiruvananthapuram.

Pythalmala is a beautiful hill station which is located in Kannur town and is around 65 kms away. It is situated at an altitude of around 4,500 m above sea level which has some breathtaking and incredible spots which one can enjoy. It is popular among many tourists from far and distant places that come here to view the amazing collection of flora and fauna that is found here. The language spoken and understood here is English, Hindi Malayalam and Kannada.

Ranipuram is located in Kasargod which is around 55 kms away. It is situated at an elevation of 750 m above sea level. Earlier this place was known as Madathumala. The language spoken and understood here is English, Hindi and Malayalam. This is a place which is loved by the tourists for different kind of vegetation which include shola woods that are evergreen, grassland and monsoon forest and for the trekking trails.

Top Station is located in Munnar around 32 kms away with an altitude of 1700 m above sea level. The importance of this place is it is the highest point on the Munnar-Kodaikanal Road. The special thing about this place is Neelakurinji. Neelakurinji is the flower that comes once in 12 years that grows in this region. The language spoken and understood here is English, Hindi and Malayalam.

Tusharagiri is located in Wayanad in Kerala. The other attraction here is Tusharagiri waterfalls which is most popular among the people. The Tusharagiri is famous for trekking where many trekkers come from near and far places to enjoy the beautiful paths of the treks. The language spoken and understood here is English, Hindi and Malayalam.

Vythiri is a beautiful and picturesque place located in Wayanad district in Kerala. It is situated at an altitude of 2600 m above sea level. It is spread around an area of 150 sq kms. The language spoken and understood here is English, Hindi and Malayalam. This is one of the places where you can enjoy, refresh, and relax which is a non polluted area.

Wagamon is located in Kottayam which is 64 kms away from the town of Idukki. It is situated at an altitude of around 11100 m above sea level with some best spots which can make you refreshed and give some pictures which make you remember this trip for your lifetime. The other intresting places here are Kurisumala Ashram and Thangal Para. This place is also known as trekker’s paradise where they enjoy the height and the path for the treks which is surrounded by natural beauty. The language spoken and understood here is English, Hindi and Malayalam. If you ask any local person for trekking the best place they will suggest is Wagamon.
