The state of Kerala is known as ‘Gods Own World’ because of its beauty which lies on every part of the state. The waterfalls of Kerala makes this beauty more splendid by the milky white water and the soothing noise of the flowing water and the lush greenery around the waterfalls which makes each of the waterfalls in Kerala a Picnic spot. All waterfalls in Kerala are famous among most of the local people and they come here to enjoy their picnic with their family and friends.

People who are nature lovers just don’t have any words when they view the beauty of the waterfalls in Kerala. Almost all of the waterfalls splash and roar down from great heights are a picnic spot where people come through the year and enjoy it tremendously. There are number of waterfalls in Kerala from which some of the important waterfalls include Athirapilly Waterfalls, Chethalayam Waterfalls, Thommankuthu Waterfalls and Soochipara Waterfalls.

The waterfalls of Kerala can be reached easily by various modes of transport like Rail, Air or Road and Local Transport is also available. The Major points in Kerala which are easily accessible are Trivandrum and Kochi. The best time one can enjoy the waterfalls of Kerala is from August to March.

Waterfalls of Kerala :

Athirapilly Waterfalls is found in Thrissur and is at a distance of around 63 kms. There are two well-known waterfalls Athirapilly and Vazhachal, that are striking and attractive that are situated on the edge of the sholayar forest ranges. Both waterfalls have a distance of around 5 kms between them. Both are based on the entrance of the Sholayar Ranges.Both these waterfalls are very trendy among tourists. From Kochi, this waterfall is located at a distance of 78 kms and people can get here without difficulty and is prominent as a picnic spot.

Cheeyappara Waterfalls is one of the renowned falls in Kerala. It is found on the Kochi - Madurai Highway in Kerala. A huge population also comes here to enjoy trekking which offers a panaromic sight and is loved by almost everyone. People of this place speak Malayalam mostly but can also understand and speak Hindi and English languages.

Chethalayam Waterfalls is located close to Sulthan Bathery which is at a distance of 12 kms from the waterfall and falls on the Pulpalli Main Road. This is a waterfall that offers an incredible and pleasing view and many people come here from far and distant places to enjoy this place. The other magnetism close to this waterfall is the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. This is among the popular destinations and is eminent as a picnic spot among many tourists.

Soochipara Waterfalls is a prominent waterfall generally enjoyed by the young mass of Kerala. There are number of people who come to look at the pleasurable atmosphere and the pleasing beauty of the waterfalls and the adjoining areas near the waterfall. It is to be found in Wayanad in Kerala. The key attraction is the 3- tiered commanding waterfall. The people who are young and athletic also like Rock Climbing here and is done by many tourists.

Thommankuthu Waterfalls is  found in Thodupuzha which is at a distance of around 20 kms and from Cochin it is around 74 kms away. This is a gorgeous, wild and small waterfall that is well-liked among people of all ages. It is one of the places where every year there are thousands of tourists fascinated. The natural loveliness of this pretty waterfall can take away the heart of any tourist. People here enjoy their picnic and is a celebrated picnic spot among a large number of tourists. People of this place speak Malayalam very well but can also understand and speak Hindi and English languages easily.

Thusaragiri Waterfalls is found in the Western Ghats with its gurgling waterfalls of Thusaragiri. It is located in Kodenchery that is at a distance of 11 kms from the waterfall. The connotation of the name is the snow capped mountains which offers a remarkable view of water and land. The other magnetism and the reason for tourists to like this places so much is because they can also enjoy trekking which offers a enormous and spectacular view of the environs. It is enjoy by almost people of all ages.
