This is one of the richly beautiful hill stations of the Tamil Nadu state; it is located on the southern and eastern side of the Doddabetta range. The altitude location is about one thousand eight hundred fifty eight meters, over sea level. Within the Nilgiris, Coonoor is a 2nd biggest hill station. It is situated little bit far from another hill station called Ooty, about nineteen kilometers. This pleasant destination is a house of hilly tribe called Coon. This hill station comes on the first position among the other hill stations, those hill stations are like Ooty, Nilgiris and Kotagiri. When you leave from the southern plains, you get to see it. Marigold flowers, grassy meadows, Rhododendrons and tea bushes are making this hill station more and more beautiful. This is an important garden of the small tea, the weather of this place is always be cool & pleasant in the entire year. The coonoor village has been distinguished in the lower and upper part.

Sim's Park :
There are many interesting spots where you can spend your time and you will also explore some part of the Tamil Nadu. The Sim's park is very well managed and structures park, it also contains the Botanical Garden. This park got the name after respectable J.D. Sim. He was a Governor General council's member during the 1870 to 1875. This park was established on the year of 1874 and this park is located in the deep gorge, at elevation location of one thousand seven hundred sixty eight to one thousand seven ninety eight meters. Here you will get to see almost one thousand types of plants, this contains pines, magnolia, camellia and tree ferns all these plant are spreader all over the park. Because of these plants Sim's park got a very glowing charm, majorly when the plants bloom as per the different seasons in the entire year. There is a separate special garden of rose, which is a major feature of this park. It has various kinds of shrubs and trees, these trees do not blossom. The small paths are spreader in the entire park; this is a major unique and amazing thing about this park. The brand new interesting element of Sim' park is world's map, you must be thinking that what is new in that, so this map has been made by the plants, these plants has been imported from the different countries, similar to Ooty hill station. Every year, in the May; the show of vegetables and fruit has been organized, to attend this show tourists specially visit this park, during this period.
Pasteur Institute :
This institute was started during the year of 1907. This is situated almost on the opposite side of the Sim's park. Pasteur institute is popular because of the research of Rabies, to give effective treatment to the person who has been nibble through the rapid animals. Pasteur institute also creating a Polio Vaccine. Behind making this institute, there is a very amazing idea. Companion of British officer, Mrs. Lily Packenham Walsh left from the world during the 1902 because of dog bite, this was happened in the Chennai. While those days, as treatment on dog bit, doctor used to do vaccination but at that time it was provided only at Pasteur Institute, which was located in North India's Kasauli. For the treatment, the patients need to go so much far destination. That’s why the Coonoor's Pasteur Institute was gifted through the rich Philanthropist of America Lord Curzor, after him the India's viceroy Lt. Col. Cornwallis became the 1st director of this institute. The prime structure of this institute is standing over the large grounds. The institute is divided into 2 storied buildings. After the independence of India, numbers of brand new buildings had been built.
Pomological Station :
This attraction of the Coonoor hill station is one among the 3 experimental gardens of fruit; it is located in the Nilgiris. This garden has been managed through Horticultural Department. It is a place where Agricultural Departments doing the research over the different types of fruits such as Peach, Apricot, Pomegranates, Plums, Lemons, Apples and Persimmons etc. the garden had been started during the year of 1920. Here you will get to see the scientific methods & present the nursery plants. They do the various experiments on the preservatives, which are made by the fruits to keep them in fresh condition.
Lamb's Rock :
Here you will get to see the thrilling sight of Coimbatore planes; from this location. From the hill station Coonoor, the distance of Lamb's rock is about eight kilometers. This comes on the way of Dolphin's Nose. It is situated at wide jungle's heart place.
Laws Falls :
This is a very delightful picnic spot; this place got the name after the Lt. Colonel Law. This is a person, who majorly built the Coonoor Ghat. It is on the downward side of the Coonoor hill station, the distance is around five kilometers. Law's falls comes on the Mettupalayam road. Around one hundred eighty feet is a height of Law's falls. This place is like a home of the nature lover people.
The Droog :
It is situated about fifteen kilometers from the hill station Coonoor. It is popular as a idel picnic spot. This is located on the height of six thousand; this place was used through the great emperor Tippu Sultan. Here you can enjoy the trekking of about 3 kilometers; so it is actually a fun point.
Lady Caninng Seat :
A tiny house, which guards a magnificent look of the tea plantations. It is about nine kilometers far from the Coonoor hill station.

This hill station of Tamil Nadu is very nicely linked through the road, to the main villages and cities of this state.
The closest airport of Coonoor hill station is coimbatore. This airport has daily flights. You can take a flight from Bangalore, Chennai, Trivandrum and Cochin.
If you want to go by rail then Coonoor hill station comes on the rail line of the Ooty & Mettupalayam. Here you can travel by toy train, which goes to Ooty from the Mettupalayam in the early morning. To come back from the Mettupalayam, you will need three and half hours. Try not go at this place while the rainy season, because the train service gets stuck in this season.
