The state relies heavly on Monsoon and thus the land is subject to drought in case there is scanty rainfall. June to September is the season of advancing monsoon and October to December is the time of North East monsoon. the state remains quite dry from January till May.

Hogenakal Waterfall on Kaveri River.

Brihadishwara Temple in Thanjavur, Cave of Mahabalipuram a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple, Srirangam, Rameshwaram, Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, temple at Kanchipuram and Palani.

Botanical Gardens in Ooty.

Kanyakumari, which is the southern most tip of Indian peninsula,Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the statue of Thiruvalluvar .

By Air : The state has its major international airport at Chennai. The Chennai International Airport is linked with 19 countries with 169 international flights per week. Other international airports in Tamil Nadu are Tiruchirapalli International Airport and Coimbatore International Airport. The domestic airports of the state that connect major cities within Tamil Nadu are located in Madurai, Salem and Tuticorin.

By Rail :
The railway network of the state is an extensive one and well-laid. The state comes under the supervision of Southern Railway. The main railway stations of Tamil Nadua are Madurai, Chennai, Tiruchirapalli (Trichy) , Coimbatore, and Salem. The sub-urban railway network of Chennai is an a well-established one and the city will soon bring metro railway.
