Basilica of Bom Jesus :

This is the most visited church of Goa which was built in 1695. The baroque architecture of this church and its sacred legacy makes it stand out from the rest of the churches in Goa. The architectural designs were made to follow the suit of Gesu, Jesuit headquarters in Rome. This is the first church in India to be awarded the title of Minor Basilica.

Church of Mary Immaculate Conception :

This church was established in 1541 and is believed to be the most oldest of all the Goan churches. It is located in the center of Panaji and happens to be the most renowned landmark of the city. The view of this church in evening and night is worth capturing.

Church of St. Monica :

This church is located just next to Chapel of St. Anthony on Monte Santo. Convent of this church was once the only convent for nuns. This massive nunnery took a long time for building. Its construction started in 1606 and was completed in 1627.

The temples in Goa once suffered from rampant destruction by Portuguese rulers. Some of the precious deities were secretly smuggled for the fear of persecution. The idols were kept in makeshift temples until Portuguese gave permission to build temples. The first temple was allowed to be build in 1818.

Mallikarjun Temple :

This temple is located within the heart of lush greenery. The noteworthy feature of this temple is its colorful festivals. The festivals observed at this temple are full of pomp. One can trace back the origin of this temple to the 16th century. It was built by the ancestors of Kshatriya Samaj and was revamped during 1778.

Mahalaxmi Temple :

Located at the city of Panaji, this temple is believed to be the most sacred shrine for Hindu disciples. The deity of Mahalaxmi is preserved and worshipped within this temple and is considered as the presiding deity of the city. This temple is the most prestigious one as it is the first Hindu temple that was built after the invasion by Alfonse de Albuquerqu.
