History of the Place :

Being a Portuguese settlement, there are myriad churches, bungalows and other architectural buildings that are appealing to the eyes and are reminiscent of the colonial period. Some of the Portuguese settlements have now been converted into museums which are the collection of artifacts of the bygone era. The Diu Fort was built to defend the Mughal forces that were trying to capture the territory annexed by Portuguese. The fort is a magnificent building that is built to face the sea. There are two walls to fortify the structure. A moat separates these two walls. Several canons that were used in battles are still preserved inside the building.

Attractions of the Place :

Diu Beach is an incredible place that boasts of sandy costal regions, monuments, and forts. This pleasant spot is filled with forest canopies, and soft sand. It is, in fact, a perfect combination of history and natural beauty. The unspoilt shorelines offer a pleasing retreat to the tourists. Nagoa and Ghoghla beaches are blessed with mesmerizing beauty. Ghoghla Beach offers a myriad of activities to be pursued and enjoyed by the visitors. One can do swimming, parasailing, water scooter riding, and speed-boat riding. This beach is also known for pleasant dolphin trips.

Golden sand of Jallandar beach is eye-catchy. Chakratirth is a beach that has beautiful sunsets. Among the most enchanting beaches, Nagoa is the topmost one. It is, in fact, visited by largest number of people. One can enjoy a number of adventurous sports including parasailing and other water sport activities.

Apart from beach-walking, swimming, and water-related activities, there are several other things to do at Diu Beach. A museum at Nagoa Beach is worth visiting as it abounds in different varieties of sea-shells. The enthusiasts of history can visit churches like that of St. Paul and St. Francis. There are other historical buildings and forts that offer a chance to explore into the past.

The beautifully lit fountains at Devka beach are just adorable. Jampore beach is a place that offers solitude to the visitors; they can relax on tranquil sands and spend some of the cherishable moments of their lives. Nani Daman has a fishing dock while Moti Daman is dotted with old monumental structures. Some of the other spectacular beaches that are a tourist's delight are Gomatimala, Goghla, and Kevdi.

Inexpensive garments and beach wear are also available at various shopping points. For food-lovers, there are many restaurants that offer delicious sea-foods. Radhika Riviera and Prato Delicioso are the famous names that serve different cuisines of Goa. Some of the eateries also offer Punjabi dishes to cater to the needs of North Indians.
