Gujarat Places to see GOPNATH BEACH

Quick Bytes :

Location : Near Bhavnagar, Gujarat

Time to Visit : Months between July and March

How to Reach There : Bhavnagar is connected by train, bus and airways to Ahmedabad. By rail, you can go for rail line connecting Ahmedabad to Bhavnagar. By air, Bhavnagar airport.

Located in Bhavnagar district, Gopnath beach of Gujarat is a secluded retreat that offers some of the most spectacular views to the visitors. Known for its scenic beauty that is replenished with rocks of limestone and breathtaking vistas, this beach is particularly popular among tourists.

Amazing sea breezes and firm sands to walk upon offer sensual pleasures; one can relax himself thoroughly in seclusion, and can wade through coastal waters, or just spend time watching colorful birds that chirp here and there. This lovely hamlet is one of the best getaways for those who want to rejuvenate their energies amidst soothing surroundings.

Other Attractions of the Place :

Gopnath beach offers many sightseeing opportunities to the tourists. Apart from walking on lovely sands or wading splashing waters, one can go for other activities. There are various temples, forts and ancient villages that can be explored here. Rajpara is a small village that is known for rocky terrains and long walks. Gopnath temple belongs to 1310 AD; this temple is unique as it is adorned with an Indian flag that has only two colors in it. The colors are symbolic of the religious faith of Hindus. Saffron flag is a representation of Lord Shiva temple while the white one denotes God Vishnu.

Talaja is another temple complex that rests on a very high volcanic hill. There are several Buddhist caves that belong to the first century AD. Named after Jhanjhara Sinh, Jhanjmer fort is located near the coast area. This fort is an impressive structure that reflects the grandeur of Rajput clan. Alang is a tidal area that is known as the biggest ship breaking zone of the world. This harbor place of Gopnath beach is a great hanging out zone for the visitors. Here one can also do extensive shopping and buy household items and textiles that were once carried over in large ships.

Like other beaches this beach is known for providing commotion from the noisy crowds of the city. Due to abundant waters, there is a rich variety of both flora and fauna at the coastal area. But the thick and murky waters that are present at the seashore make swimming a difficult task. Hence the option of enjoying several water-sports is not very welcoming at Gopnath beach. The beach area was earlier a summer retreat of the Maharaja Krishna Kumar who was a ruler of Bhavnagar.

Accommodations at the Beach :

Built in colonial style, Gopnath bungalow is an excellent accommodation for the tourists. Its spectacular cottages that are sea-facing offer exclusive views to the beach-goers. Known for high tides, this place is blessed with marine life including jackals, hyenas, and plovers. Some temples are located in its vicinity. Earlier, Punjabi falconers used to capture falcons for rulers of Bhavnagar.

Gopnath beach is an excellent option for the tourists to have a break from the monotonous city life.
