Kankaria Lake :   Kankaria lake is a lake that is multisided. It was built by Sultan Qutab-ud-din in the fifteenth century. It is, in reality, an artificial lake comprising of 34 sides. It lies at the south eastern end of the city of Ahmedabad. The lake also features an awesome summer palace. According to a legend, Kankaria Lake was frequented by Emperor Jehangir and his wife Empress Noor Jahan.

Chandola Lake : Chandola lake is located at Dani Limda Road. This lake is artificial. The credit for creating the lake goes to the consort of Ahmedabad’s Mughal Sultan, who was named Tajn Khan Nari Ali. Chandola Lake serves as a water reservoir. It has greatly benefited the people of Ahmedabad. Chandola Lake’s water has been used for irrigation and industrial purposes.

Hamisar Lake : Several, royal cenotaphs constructed out of red sandstone lie at the centre of Hamisar Lake. A small percentage of these specimens have been carved elaborately on stone. Among all the funerary monuments, the chhatri of Rao Lakhpatji is the biggest and most well preserved. On the death of Maharao Lakhpat, nearly 15 of his consorts committed suicide by entering the funeral pyre. The memorial stone testifies this fact.

Narayan Sarovar : Among the five, holy lakes in India, Narayan Sarovar is one of them. Narayan Sarovar literally means Lake of Narayan, which is another name for Lord Vishnu. Narayan Sarovar comprises of five sacred lakes. One lake is home to a temple complex. The site serves as an important pilgrimage center in the Kuchh region. Ancient texts make many references to this site. The architecture inspires awe among its visitors. 108 gaumukhs surround the lake. They symbolize God’s 108 names. Holy water emanates from the gaumukhs. The lake is home to amazing lotus flowers. They send forth a message of detachment and purity.

Ten Talav : Ten Talav is an octagonal tank that is splendidly constructed. It is replete with embankments and stone steps. The structure symbolizes the love between Hiradhar Shilpi, who was Dabhoi Fort’s architect, and a woman named Ten. Hiradhar was said to be in love with Ten. During the construction of Dabhoi Fort, he secretly constructed the Ten Talav for the sake of his lover. He was found guilty of misappropriation. He was immediately sentenced to death. He was buried alive in Dabhoi’s fort walls.
