Ayyappa temple is one of the very famous temples in India. Next to Kerala, the actual origin of Ayyappa temple, this temple is very well known. This temple is also called as Mini Sbarimala Shree Ayyappa temple which is located at the top of hillock and surrounded by valleys and hills in Kanjur Marg, Mumbai. This is the first ancient Ayyappa temple built away from Kerala state. The tiny stream which is originating from the surrounding area adds to the holiness and beauty of the environment of the place. This is a very unique temple resembling the God Ayyappa at Sbarimala in Kerala on the Western Ghats. Thousands of devotees are being attracted to this temple every year. It has also been believed that in this place of Shree Mini Sbarimala, two temples of Ayyappa and Devi existed long time ago. But it was destroyed by the foreign invaders and now as an evidence of it, the remnants can be seen even now. It has also been said that the priests of temples were killed by the Ayyappa and since then, people started worshipping Ayyappa in the same place, building a new temple.
In Ayyappa temple during every Festival time more number of devotees visit to celebrate the festival and do pujas. Out of many festivals “Pankuni Uttiram” is the most famous festival celebrated in this temple. Mandala Makara Vilakku is the major festival being celebrated every year in this temple which comes between November and January. During this time you can see thousands of devotes visiting the temple than the normal days. This place can be reached through roadways, either by using bus Transport or private vehicles, or through local trains.
